Product details

Overview

The JBL PRX418S is a compact, high‑power 18‑inch passive subwoofer designed to deliver deep, controlled bass in live sound environments. With 800 W continuous power handling, 1600 W program, and 3200 W peak, it provides substantial headroom for demanding performances while remaining portable enough for touring rigs.

Its front‑loaded, vented enclosure minimizes its frontal footprint to keep a clean, professional profile on stage or in venue spaces. The cabinet uses birch and poplar multi‑laminate hardwood and is finished with JBL’s rugged DuraFlex coating, while a 16‑gauge steel grille is CNC‑machined and internally lined with an acoustically transparent screen for driver protection and a tidy appearance.

Key specifications and capabilities

  • Power handling: 800 W continuous, 1600 W program, 3200 W peak for reliable dynamic response
  • Low‑end extension: frequency range 35–250 Hz with a frequency response 52–120 Hz, and sensitivity up to 100 dB
  • Connectivity: input panel with Neutrik SpeakON NL‑2 and 1/4" TS inputs wired in parallel; +1/−1 woofer wiring

Versatile installation and pairing

  • Pole mount option to use with JBL SS4‑BK poles for stable stage setups
  • Best results when paired with compatible JBL tops such as PRX412M or PRX415M for cohesive sound coverage

Durable construction and protection

The enclosure is built to endure transport and frequent setup, featuring birch/poplar hardwood construction, a rugged DuraFlex finish, and a 16‑gauge steel grille with an acoustically transparent liner that protects the woofer without compromising sound.

Usage scenarios

  • Live music venues, corporate events, and houses of worship where compact subwoofers extend bass without dominating floor space
  • Mobile DJ rigs and touring productions that require dependable bass support and easy system integration
