JBL CSS8018 8-Inch Commercial Ceiling Speaker — 10W 100V/70V/25V Transformer, Paintable White

Overview

The JBL Professional CSS8018 is a round, 8-inch ceiling speaker designed for reliable paging and background music in busy commercial spaces. Its high sensitivity helps you achieve clear, consistent sound with modest amplifier power, making it well-suited for retail stores, restaurants, schools, offices, and other public environments. A compact, durable form paired with a paintable grille ensures the installation blends with the room’s look while delivering dependable performance.

Why it shines

• 8-inch driver with a 1-inch voice coil, engineered for everyday durability and clear output.
• 10-Watt multi-tap transformer supporting 100V, 70V, and 25V distributed lines for flexible system design.
• Ultra-high sensitivity (97 dB) enables strong sound levels with less amplifier power.
• Wide 110-degree conical coverage for broad sound distribution without hotspots.
• Frequency response: 50 Hz–17 kHz (-10 dB) on the driver/grille assembly; 90 Hz–17 kHz when used with the CSS-BB8 back-can.
• Pre-assembled driver, transformer, and grille simplify installation; optional CSS-BB8 back cans offer easier wiring and potential bass extension.

Versatile installation

Designed for quick setup, the CSS8018 features a bolt mounting circle of 11.25 inches and an 8.5-inch cutout diameter for open-back mounting. The grille and transformer come pre-attached for streamlined deployment, and the unit can be color-matched to room decor since the grille is paintable. Optional CSS-BB8 back cans are available to further simplify wiring and inspection before final installation.

Ideal applications

These speakers excel in environments where clear announcements and ambient playback matter. Use cases include retail floors for customer guidance, restaurants and cafes for background music, educational spaces for paging, and office lobbies or lounges needing reliable coverage with minimal amplifier load.
